DOWNTOWN MEXICO CITY WALKING TOURS
2. MONEDA STREET

With the street vendors banished, Moneda Street, once the aorta of the city, is again accessible to the general public. Walking east alongside the National Palace, we will visit over half a dozen important historical buildings and sites, the first of which was the home of Mexico's ex-archbishop (today an eclectic art museum built on visible pyramid ruins). In addition, we will explore Santa Teresa la Antigua (with original 18th century colonial columns and tile work on view), the site of the first printing house in the Americas, the Old Mint, (which has been converted into the National Museum of Cultures), Santa Ines Church and Convent which houses a permanent exhibit of the controversial artist Jose Luis Cuevas, and La Santisima Church.
